The service
What is På(fyll)?
På(fyll) is a service that makes it easier for you to live more environmentally friendly by reducing the use of single-use plastics.
How does På(fyll) work?
På(fyll) works so that you order the everyday products you need for cleaning and personal care.
What is meant by På(fyll)?
We called the service På(fyll) from filling up and refilling itself.
Who is behind På(fyll)?
På(fyll) is a result of cooperation between Orkla Home and Personal Care (OHPC), Era and Bakken & Bæck.
From January 2025, På(fyll) is fully owned by Orkla Home and Personal Care.
Do you want to get to know På(team) better? Get to know the founder and COO, Bård Bringsrud Svensen.
Is På(fyll) a subscription service?
No. This is because we don’t want to deliver you products before you actually need them. That way we ensure you don’t end up with too much of something causing unnecessary build-up of clutter in your home. We also reduce our climate impact by avoiding unnecessary production and transportation.
Isn't it easier to just buy soap and stuff at the store?
På(fyll) is an alternative for people who want a simple way of living a more circular lifestyle. With På(fyll) you can conveniently order refill the moment you run out from the comfort of your home, and we deliver your refill before you need it. But you can also save up to 80 % of your climate impact by refilling your products with På(fyll), instead of buying single-use packaging at your grocery store.
Products
What products does På(fyll) offer?
As of today, we offer products from well-known Norwegian brands such as Zalo, Lano, Omo, Milo and Klar.
Will there be more products?
The short answer is: Yes! Send them to us in an email or on social media.
Why don't you have perfume-free products?
This is something we want to offer and which we are working to be able to offer in the long term.
Here we have to test and explore a part of how we solve it.
Why aren’t you offering products in bigger containers?
The size of our containers is carefully designed to make sense in your everyday life. For example, a five-liter container of Zalo would take a long time to finish and occupies unnecessary space in your cupboard. Our containers provide you with enough for approximately 2-4 refills, which will last you 1-3 months (somewhat depending on which product you choose). To us, that makes sense.
Why do you only offer liquid products?
Our goal is to reduce the use of single-use plastic, which is why we focus specifically on everyday products that rely the most on single-use plastic. Those are the liquid ones, such as soaps and cleaning agents.
We also get questions about why we don't offer alternatives like solid soaps or laundry sheets. We support such products and think it's great that people use them. At the same time, it's still the case that very few do. The vast majority use liquid products sold in single-use plastic – which is the problem we're tying to solve.
The container
What is a På(fyll) container?
A På(fyll) container is a reusable container (0.9 l and 2 l) with a screw cap. In this article you can read more about the design and the idea behind the container.
We are building a system that makes it possible to use the containers for many years to come.
What is the container made of?
The container itself is made of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) while the cap is made of Polypropylene (PP).
How do you fill the På(fyll) container?
Our bottling line can be adapted to the sizes and needs that we have, depending on how much demand there is for the product.
These large cans are sent to be washed and reused in an industrial system, allá the EUR-pallet system.
Can I keep the container?
No, unfortunately you cannot keep the container (we know, we love them too). På(fyll) is relying entirely on the circularity of our service, which means we depend on our containers being returned to live on in the På(fyll) system.
Dispenser
What can be used as a dispenser?
In everyday life, we recommend that you use smaller bottles that you already have, for example a hand soap dispenser. You simply pour the contents of the På(fyll) container into smaller dispensers that you can have standing in front of you.
We also offer our own "eternity dispensers".
What is a perpetual dispenser?
We call them perpetual dispensers because they have been developed with all aspects in mind throughout the life cycle of the dispensers.
We already have the infrastructure that makes it easy to deliver and pick up goods at your home.
What are the dispensers made of?
Our dispensers are made from the same material as our På(fyll) container.
What kind of dispensers can I buy from På(fyll)?
We have developed 5 different dispensers.
- Squeeze bottle: A dispenser perfect for shower soap or shampoo.
- Spray bottle: Can be used for cleaning agents such as Klar kitchen spray or other cleaning agents you want in a spray bottle.
- Spray bottle: A dispenser perfect for washing-up liquid such as Klar and Zalo.
- Dosing bottle: This dispenser is intended for use with liquid detergents for washing clothes, such as OMO, Klar and Milo.
- Soap dispenser: Our soap dispenser is a pump bottle for hand soap, such as Lano and Klar.
What are the labels of the dispensers made of?
The labels are also made of polyethylene. The ones we are testing now are actually in a recycled quality of this material. Polyethylene is a good material to recycle with the dispenser bottles as they are made of the same material.
The dispenser was broken, what do I do now?
Sometimes things break. If this happens, contact us by email and we will help you. Our dispensers and the system we have established enable us to replace parts that break. This means that it is functionally not necessary for you to buy a new dispenser.
Order
How do you order På(fyll)?
The first time you order På(fyll), you do so via our website. You put the products you need in the shopping basket, when you are ready you press go to checkout, create your account and pay.
When do I order more På(fyll)?
When you have filled your dispenser and the På(fyll) container is empty, simply scan the QR code on the container to order a refill and to pick up the empty container. Then you still have soap left in your dispenser, so you can get a new refill in plenty of time.
Why is my order divided into several shipments?
To be eligible for home delivery, the shipment must be under 35 x 25 x 12 cm and weigh less than 5 kg. The size of our containers is designed to ensure that we fit as many products as possible into one parcel. However, for large orders, it may be necessary to split the order into multiple packages, each with its own shipping and tracking number.
I'm having issues with my order.
We're experiencing some growing pains. Luckily, we're most likely already working on your issue. Please contact help@pafyll.com, and we'll find a solution!
Payment
How do you pay for På(fyll)?
You can quickly and easily pay with Vipps for everything you order.
I have a discount code. How do I add it?
When you have to pay. Click on the line under “Your order”. It should say “Discount”. Click on it and “Add”. Then all you have to do is enter the discount code.
Price
How is På(fyll) priced?
We do not aim to be the cheapest, but we will offer reasonable prices and we are constantly working to be at about the same level as other grocery stores.
How much does På(fyll) cost?
Our prices are roughly at the same level as similar products in grocery stores.
Delivery
How are the containers delivered?
På(fyll) containers are delivered straight to your home—either to your doorstep or mailbox, depending on where you live. As a general rule, apartments receive deliveries at the doorstep, while houses and row houses get them in the mailbox or mailbox stand.
We deliver with HeltHjem, who operate across mainland Norway six days a week—and in some areas, even on Sundays. All shipments are trackable, so you can follow your delivery every step of the way. You’ll receive an email from us when your order is on its way.
Do I have to be at home when På(fyll) is delivered?
No, you do not need to be at home to receive the På(fyll) containers. In fact, we collect the empties and deliver new ones completely contactless.
How much does shipping cost?
You get free shipping on orders over NOK 295. For individual orders, it costs NOK 39 for delivery. Returns are always free.
Do you deliver all over Norway?
We deliver to homes where HeltHjem can both deliver and collect the containers. That currently includes about 85% of Norwegian households. Unfortunately, we don’t yet offer delivery or returns via retail stores.
You can check your address on HeltHjem's website or during checkout on our site.
Want to place an order but don’t have coverage at your address? Get in touch with us! We’re working closely with HeltHjem to expand our delivery options.
Why is my delivery split into several packages?
HeltHjem has a package weight limit of 5 kg per shipment—sometimes your full containers weigh more than that in total. Your order may therefore be split into two or more deliveries to meet this requirement.
You won’t be charged extra shipping if your order is split.
Return
How do I make a return?
When one or more of your containers are empty, we want them back!
Scan the QR code on the side of one of your containers and select “Return container.” You can also choose to order a refill at the same time—your return will then be booked automatically. Or go directly to pafyll.com/return.
Pack the empty containers in a box (preferably the one they were delivered in!), write the return code clearly on the outside, and place it in the same location where you received your delivery.
How do I pack the return?
The containers must be packed in a box to be picked up. Simply placing them outside your door isn’t enough.
If you ordered a refill while booking the return, your new delivery will arrive before you need to send back the empty containers. You can then use the same box for your return—that’s why we call it a “one-loop box.”
If you didn’t order new products, you can reuse the original box your På(fyll) came in. Any other cardboard box works too, as long as it doesn’t exceed 35×25×12 cm in size.
Make sure to write the return code clearly on the box, and cross out or black out the old delivery label—otherwise, the return won’t be processed correctly. You’ll receive the return code by email when you book your return. It will look something like this: S-L3NMT.
Where do I place the return?
The main rule is: If you live in a house, place the return box in your mailbox. If you live in an apartment, place it on your doorstep.
Not sure where to leave it? You can check at helthjem.no.
If the box doesn’t fit in your mailbox, you can hang it in a bag on the mailbox. That way, the pickup courier can easily spot and collect it.
Oops, I’ve booked more returns than I need!
No problem! Just contact us at help@pafyll.com, and we’ll cancel one of them for you.
Can I use the same return code on several packages?
If your return requires more than one box, you’ll need to book a separate return for each box.
You can do this by scanning the QR code on the side of your På(fyll) container and selecting “Return container,” or by visiting pafyll.com/return. Follow the steps there to schedule a return date.
Sustainability
How is På(fyll) more sustainable than single-use plastic?
Buying På(fyll) means a significantly lower footprint compared to traditional shopping methods. NORSUS shows that you save as much as up to 80% of the climate impact by filling up products via På(fyll) rather than buying these in the store in disposable packaging.
But doesn't the cost go up in terms of transport?
We are continuously working on ways to make the service even better and more environmentally friendly. We have therefore chosen to deliver the products through Helthjem, an already existing public transport for parcel shipments that delivers newspapers, magazines and parcels all over the country. In this way, we do not burden the environment any further.
Why are your containers made of plastic?
Plastic is fantastic (hear us out)! På(fyll) wants to create a real alternative to disposable packaging. And used in the right way, plastic can be a part of the solution. Plastic as a material is strong, flexible, lightweight and durable - it's biggest con, is also its biggest pro. These properties enable us to create reusable containers that have low weight for transportation and can withstand the humps and bumps of both transportation and everyday life.
Our containers are made of HDPE which is easy to recycle and one of the plastic materials with the lowest carbon footprint. This way you can eliminate up to 80 % of your climate impact, by buying your products through På(fyll) instead of in the grocery store.
Why not use materials such as carton, aluminum or glass?
Sometimes we get asked why we don’t use other materials than plastic to make our containers. Believe us, we have thought this through.
Why not carton?
Carton is unfortunately not fit for reusable packaging, as it lacks durability and is prone to moisture damage. To contain liquids such as detergents, it requires a plastic or aluminum film on the inside. This type of packaging needs to be manually sorted at the recycling plant, and in the end the plastic film is burnt. Even though the use of carton in refill packaging is a good option, it still classifies as singe-use packaging, and will create waste. Our ambition is to create an entirely circular and waste-free loop.
Why not glass?
Glass as a reusable material holds a few challenges. Glass is heavy, which means it requires more energy during transportation. It also makes it difficult for us to deliver all your orders in a single parcel, as the parcel weight limit for door delivery is 5 kg. We don’t want to have to make unnecessary shipments if we can avoid it. Also, glass isn’t as sturdy as plastic. We want to ensure our containers can withstand being delivered again and again, and also survive everyday life.
Why not aluminum?
Compared to plastic, aluminum is not very sturdy. It is easily dented and damaged, and thus less fit for reusable packaging. In addition, virgin plastics has a lower carbon footprint than aluminum. Finally plastic is much easier to recycle, and the process requires far less energy than the recycling of materials such as aluminum.
Why don’t you sell more sustainable products, such as Klar?
Our goal is first and foremost to reduce the need for single-use plastics. That’s why På(fyll)’s focus is to offer the most popular products on reusable containers. In that way we eliminate the most single-use plastic.
With that being said, we do love suggestions. We want you to be a part of our journey, so please let us know what products you would love us to refill for you.
Circular economy
What do you mean by På(fyll) being a circular service?
På(fyll) is a circular service as the products are delivered in reusable containers, which are made so that they can be easily used again and again.
What do you mean when you say the containers and dispensers last forever?
The way we use plastic ensures that we keep the plastic in a closed loop where we reuse, reuse, and reuse again before finally recycling. Thanks to our tracking system, we always know where our containers are in the cycle. We know the entire history of each container, and know how long it has been in use, when it's worn out, and when it's nearing the time for recycling. This ensures that it always continues its life as a På(fyll) container. The dispensers can also be returned to us when they are ready to be recycled.
Isn’t recycling easier?
Our goal is to create a circular system that prevents the creation of waste by stopping the use of single-use plastics. In På(fyll) we believe in the importance of preserving our resources and reducing emissions from production. We believe in reuse first and recycling second. This is why it is important to get our containers back intact, so we can use them again and again and again.
